Motivations

Planetary Boundaries and SDGs

From Planetary boundaries. (s. f.). Stockholm Resilience Centre. http://stockholmresilience.org/research/planetary-boundaries.html

The Planetary Boundaries Framework illustrates Earth's ecological limits, highlighting critical systems like climate change, biosphere integrity, and biogeochemical flows. The green center represents the "safe operating space," while red zones indicate exceeded boundaries, signaling environmental risk.

The SDGs wedding cake. (2016, 14 June). Stockholm Resilience Centre. https://www.stockholmresilience.org/research/research-news/2016-06-14-the-sdgs-wedding-cake.html

The Doughnut Economics Model integrates the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), showing the interdependence of the biosphere, society, and economy. The foundation (biosphere) supports societal well-being, which in turn sustains economic activities. Together, these frameworks emphasize the urgency of staying within ecological limits while fostering sustainable human development.

Our design process aims to promote projects that focus on generating impact within the safe zone of the nine planetary boundaries out of which six are now transgressed
